Halloween: The Game Challenges

·

Halloween: The Game has three challenge systems. Use Passive Challenges for role-wide progress, Progressive Challenges for a specific character, Michael skin, or weapon, and Story Challenges for optional chapter objectives. Match your activity to the challenge type before starting another attempt.

Progressive Challenges menu and Civilian roster

Passive, Progressive, or Story?

Challenge typeHow progress worksWhere to start
PassiveAutomatically tracks Killer or Civilian activity across character choicesCheck the role category and its requirement
ProgressiveUnlocks rewards through successive objectives for one Civilian, Michael skin, or weapon typeCheck the active step and correct loadout
StoryOptional objectives in the Prologue and Chapters 1–5Choose a chapter below and read its exact condition

These categories are confirmed in the official progression overview. Completing a chapter alone does not satisfy every Stalk, target, weapon, location, or execution requirement.

Progressive Requirements After 1.0.3

Patch 1.0.3, released September 22, rebalanced many Progressive goals. Selected examples:

Track / challengeUpdated goal
Eric — Shop Class AlumniRepair 10 cars
Tanya — EntourageEscort 10 Residents to an escape as followers
Rachel — From the ShadowsLeave a hiding spot and stumble Michael 7 times
Marcus — TinkerRepair communications equipment Michael destroyed 5 times
Laurie — ResourcefulSearch 100 loot containers
1978 Michael — Stalker BoyReach Stalk Tier 2 on 50 victims
Hatchet — Flight of the AxeGet 75 thrown-weapon kills

This is a selection, not the full challenge book. If your existing progress already exceeds a reduced goal, gain progress toward that objective once more to trigger completion.

Passive Challenges After Prestige

The same patch keeps Passive progress tracking after Prestige even when the entries look locked. IllFonic calls this a temporary fix; the locked appearance remains a separate UI issue. Check progress after a qualifying action before treating the icon as a lost unlock. Full Prestige reset rules and level caps are not documented in these notes.

The official progression overview confirms six playable chapters with optional cosmetic challenges. These guides cover objectives supported by available evidence, not an invented checklist of all 36 slots. Chapter numbers follow Prologue plus Chapters 1–5; some player posts count Prologue as chapter one.

Stalk, Bloodthirst, and Executions

Read the target's required Stalk condition before grabbing. If the objective asks for a specific execution, ordinary melee damage is not a substitute. Approach the required environmental object with the victim alive and check the available interaction rather than assuming a nearby kill will count.

Stalk and Bloodthirst are not interchangeable labels. A fully stalked victim does not by itself prove that Michael meets a Bloodthirst-dependent execution condition. For the relevant mechanics, see Michael Myers. On no-alert attempts, also consider witnesses and discovered bodies: the target being unaware at the instant of a grab is only one part of the route.

Practical preparation:

  1. Record the exact objective and chapter number.
  2. Separate noisy kill-all attempts from stealth attempts until you understand the patrols.
  3. Identify the target, weapon, and execution location before committing.
  4. Finish the chapter and compare the saved challenge menu with any in-run notification.
  5. If progress disappears, investigate tracking before repeating a long route unchanged.

What Challenges Unlock

Story objectives award alternate outfits and cosmetic items; completing every singleplayer challenge awards a special Michael look. They are distinct from the account and character levels used for roster and loadout progression. See character unlocks.

Passive challenges track broader role activity. Progressive challenges follow a sequence tied to a Civilian, Michael skin, or weapon. Select the correct entry before assuming a story kill should advance a different challenge book.

Current Tracking Status

The latest confirmed release is Patch 1.1.1, October 16, covering crash fixes. The historical September 26 Patch 1.0.4 addresses crashes after Story Missions but does not announce a universal challenge-save fix. Earlier 1.0.2 fixes still matter for the named chapter objectives below. Use challenges not working to separate unmet conditions, missing saved progress, and a crash at the ending.
